About stadium

A stadium that will have a capacity of over 50,000 and is currently home to a top-tier side; Stuttgart tourist attractions include the Mercedes-Benz-Museum.

Stadium introduction

The Stuttgart Arena was built in 1933, has been renovated and modernised several times during its history, and will have a capacity of more than 50,000 for UEFA EURO 2024.

Once known as the Neckarstadion, it staged games at the 1974 and 2006 FIFA World Cups and the 1988 UEFA European Championship, as well as holding two European Cup deciders – Real Madrid's 1959 defeat of Reims and PSV Eindhoven's 1988 win against Benfica.

Following a refurbishment that was completed in 2011, the Stuttgart Arena is now a dedicated football stadium, although the likes of Bon Jovi, the Rolling Stones and Phil Collins have played concerts there. Five-time national champions VfB Stuttgart are the resident home club.

How to get to the Stadium

Address: Mercedesstraße 87, 70372 Stuttgart (Bad Cannstatt)

Stuttgart Arena is located in the north-east of Stuttgart on the east bank of the river Neckar, about 4.5 kilometres from Stuttgart’s city centre and main rail station.

If arriving by car from the motorways around Stuttgart, signs with a stadium symbol will guide you, via the B10 and B14, to the stadium.

If using public transport, take overground metro (S-Bahn) line S1 from the main rail station (Hbf). Take the train in the direction of Kirchheim and get off at stop Neckarpark. From there it is a 5-minute walk to the stadium.

On matchdays, Stadtbahn line U11 can also bring you from the main rail station to the stadium (NeckarPark).

It is furthermore a doable 30-minute walk to the stadium from Bad Cannstatt station, which is served by several S-Bahn and other train lines.
